Hi from Topsail Beach - I'm from Clinton
Diana Soles, WCPS Occupational Therapy
Hi! I do love it here!
Thank You for that tip. I will start small.
Is it better to do daily assignments or give weekly assignments?
How are you providing assistance to your team if you are an instructional coach? You can't do observations now so how would you best support them?
What is the best way to record your first video lesson. Should I se DoJo, Zoom or some other platform.
That did help.
How will we grade work that they do?
structure office hours- I seem to be on line- available-returning emails- from 10 Am to 10P I teach high school
It is a good idea to have individual grade levels plan through this process together and in the high schools to have subject areas to plan together. In those instances, coaches, EC Support staff, and other instructional personnel can sit in on those virtual meetings to share resources, tips, and to answer questions.
I don't even know how to get my question on the padlet. So, do you suggest we push out as much as we did in the classroom? Or should it be scaled down?
Having trouble getting students to turn in work? need help...
What do you do about students who hardly did work in class? How do you hold them accountable to these assignments while still be reasonable, considering circumstances?
The State Board will send directions to districts on Friday on how schools should grade.
Padlet link in case you want something other than chat: https://padlet.com/darlene_schaefe/33ful6xgpqnv
there should be a plus button on the padlet
please open it and select the plus or add our question to the chat
Our work is only supplemental at this point. It is frustrating in some ways because my 11th graders aren't really going to do something that isn't graded and is only supplemental.
Any ideas about how EC high school resource teachers can help their students with their regular education classes?
Well said Brandon Simmons

What is the best way to teach 1st graders that have parents that work and can't get on video chat. During certain times of the day?
that’s a great tip, Chris
a back channel chat!
Well said Dr. Smmith
Thank you!! Great tips!
Okay Thank You.
even with our high school students, our goal is 10 minutes or less
Darlene is great
Great advice on video recordings for young learners!
Awesome resources put together for K-2 teachers by the Office of Early Learning at DPI- https://sites.google.com/dpi.nc.gov/nck-3fap/remote-learning
Candyce Rand, I have the same issue. Supplemental and review only. And we can provide 90 minutes of work each week (high school). How can I encourage engagement?
What is your experience with uploaded handwritten instructions? I have been creating packets on my iPad and implementing pictures, etc. Is this a descent practice or have you found it more beneficial to keep everything typed.
Is Padlet a feature of Zoom?
Can you show the padlet link again, please
I personally enjoy FlipGrid! It allows the kids to interact with their classmates
I love the ideas - however, we are not able to use zoom or meet - no video. Can I use something like this with audio only?
Google Classroom Training will be helpful because some teachers are NEW to Google Classroom. I am noticing features that are like a different language n teachers need help also, not just students

I use Canvas
DPI K-2 Resources link-https://sites.google.com/dpi.nc.gov/nck-3fap/remote-learning
google classroom training please? Go back trying to write down it...
I have all of those it’s the access and then providing it printed such as Adobe and computer science
Thank you! Keep it simple! Master one tool first!!!
yes @ willisk
Thank you for your time and very useful information
you are offering things in multiple formats for students which is great- printed, accounting for different devices.
Stephanie, I know Western Piedmont Community College near you is also trying to figure out that same question with their students and the Adobe products for the Game and Design program
That’s already great steps in the right direction
teacher tv? my son just said that
When instructed to check with your District. Mr. Simmons does that mean with the head of IT Department or someone different? I was a sub and now a teacher assistant.
I would start with your principal and work from there
Thanks Brandon - I was going to say Principal or AP
Thank you both!
and I know many have been collaborating with school-level and district level technology facilitators and directors
an then have them use devices to journal that process and they can share that info with you through a discussion forum so everyone can compare and contrast/discuss what they are doing
Great option! Comparable apps and YouTube
Bye all. Thank you Darlene and Brandon
Thank you for your help
thanks everyone.. im going to be checking out all the resources..
