is there any exemplar plans for re-opening?
Alicia Rheel
53:25
Will ESSER III have a 182 similar to 172?
Charles Fuller
53:29
Is there a provision for ESSER III similar to ESSER II for charters that did not accept Title I funds?
Tina Letchworth
53:59
ESSER II PRC 171 and ESSER III PRC 181 are allotted based on Title I eligibility. ESSER II PRC 172 is the fund source for charters who do not qualify or waive Title I funds.
David.Machado
54:25
yes, these funds will come from the 10% reserve Dr. Townsend was referring to
Tina Letchworth
54:55
A supplemental ESSER III has not been determined at this time. ESSER I supplemental was PRC 164 and ESSER II supplemental is PRC 172.
Alicia Rheel
55:24
Thank you Tina!
Charles Fuller
55:29
Is it being discussed or is it a non-starter?
Jamey.Falkenbury
57:11
Additional ESSER III funds for charters was part of DPI's appropriation request that was approved by the SBE earlier this week. Working the details out with the GA.
Charles Fuller
57:36
Thanks so much!
Cheryl Turner
57:47
If we are going to offer summer school but not all of the requirements of the legislation, should we still submit a plan?
Shawn Williams
57:53
Will the State Board be able to change and dictate that Charters have a summer program if the bill is passed?
Michael Maher
58:13
Yes, you can offer a summer school that does not include all of the requirements.
Laura C Bilbro-Berry
58:14
For HB82 - are lab schools "encouraged" as are charters?
Michael Maher
58:33
Yes, Lab schools encouraged, not required
Lynne.Barbour
58:35
Cheryl, if you are offering a summer extension program we would request that you submit a plan.
Lynne.Barbour
01:00:57
We are in the process of finalizing a summer extension program submission survey for Charters / Lab Schools, etc. (similar to the one published for LEAs). We hope to have that live by end of business Monday.

As Charters, are we required to offer 150 hours/30 days or can we create our own program outside of those guidelines?
Cheryl Turner
01:09:47
If you are not going to do the 30 days or 150 hours, should we just not submit a plan even though we are offering summer school?\
Gregg Sinders
01:09:56
What is the funding level
Gregg Sinders
01:10:11
what is the deadline
Gregg Sinders
01:10:35
$60M available, right?
Sarena Fuller
01:11:03
EC directors left their recent webinar with a different understanding. Just for an abundance of clarity - charters are encouraged but not required. Correct?
Gregg Sinders
01:11:11
we will submit an ESSER II - why do more paperwork
Cheryl Turner
01:11:28
Does the summer reading program count for K-3 or do you have to do something additional for them?
Kelly Painter
01:11:37
If we want to share our plan who do we send it to
Matt Hoskins
01:11:39
I also want to confirm from EC…charters are encouraged, not required.
Alicia
01:11:56
So if a charter submits a plan is it required to follow all guidelines?
Gregg Sinders
01:12:05
What is the motivation for a charter to submit a plan
Sarena Fuller
01:12:48
Thank you!
Buffy Fowler
01:13:13
Thanks Dave!!
Andrew Harris
01:13:19
So no summer plan requirement, but return to learn plan for 21-22 will be required, right?
roman
01:14:29
So, If I understood, there are no additional funds for summer school, we are expected to use ESSER II
Ashley Baquero
01:17:58
Joan - in the event you do not have enough ESSER II for summer school - NCDPI, as directed by the State Board of Education, will make additional funds available via a grant program. The grants will support in-person instruction to address learning loss and provide enrichment activities. The allocation of these grants shall be prioritized to local school administrative units and charter schools based on need as demonstrated by the expenditure of existing federal funding received for COVID-19–related impacts.
